FAQ

Do you QT your fish?

All of our WYSIWYG clown fish are tank bred specimens. These fish come from reputable breeders and are not exposed to any systems with potential pathogens. When the fish come into our facility we place them into a separate  system that is dedicated to only tank bred clown fish. The fish are not quarantined in the traditional sense, as they are not exposed to any potential pathogens or diseases. We are confident in their health. Ultimately it is the hobbyist’s choice to quarantine the fish.

What breeders are the clowns from?

Our selection of clown fish come from world renown breeders. The clowns we provide range from rare to common clown fish. We take great pride in only associating with breeders who have established themselves in the industry and who contribute positively to the saltwater hobby.

Do you ship?

At this time we do not ship. Once the time comes that we do ship our live stock, we will be offering an arrive-live guarantee.  We are currently finalizing details to begin shipping very soon.  If you are interested in a pair please contact us.

How do I order?

We do not process orders in the traditional sense of a retailer. If you would like to purchase a fish or pair of clown fish from Clown Aquatics we ask that you contact us directly via e-mail.

Once you find a pair or fish that you would like to purchase please e-mail us. Upon receipt of your e-mail we will confirm your purchase and we can arrange for a PayPal invoice to be sent or for a local pick up. We take pride in responding to e-mails quickly.

What are your hours and location?

We are located in Ridgefield, NJ.  We are currently renovating our location to be able to bring you more and more livestock including Tank Bred Clowns, Corals, and Wild Caught Fish.  Please check back often for our grand re-opening.

We will be open to the public on Fri-Sun when completed.

Do I need to Quarantine the fish when I receive them?

Please read our ‘Do you QT your fish?’ section. While we aim to provide the healthiest and highest quality of live stock it is always recommended that you quarantine newly acquired fish. Quarantining allows you to view the fish’s personality and ensure they are eating properly before introducing them to your primary aquarium.

As hobbyist we always quarantine new acquisitions before they enter our personal tanks. Not only does it protect your current specimens, but it protects your new acquisitions as well.

Do you offer arrive-live????

At this time we do not ship, once the time comes that we ship our live stock we will be prepared to offer a arrive-live guarantee.

Please keep in mind here at Clown Aquatics we typically have pairs in our posession for an extended period of time to ensure they are healthy and eating prior to being posted for sale.

How Should I acclimate the fish after I receive them?

Every individual has their own method of acclimating newly acquired fish. Here at Clown Aquatics we highly recommend that you use a drip acclimation method. This allows for a slow, but steady adjustment of parameters of the newly acquired livestock water in comparison to the tank it will be entering. The ultimate goal of acclimation though is to find the balance of the two. We typically allow our specimens to undergo a drip acclimation for 30-45 minutes prior to putting them in our holding tanks.

Are the WYSIWYG clowns mated pairs?

Clowns that are paired up are only sold as paired. Once one of the fish shows dominance then it will turn female and then the pair can be called mated. But a pair can also be labeled as bonded where the fish seem to not leave each others sides. This is the first step to a mated pair. A bonded pair or a mated pair will also have a higher price.

What does SA or SR stand for?

SA stands for Sustainable Aquatics
SR stands for Sea & Reef

They are 2 of the breeders that we currently carry fish from.  We are looking into additional breeders at this time.
